Pernod Ricard as it is known today, was created in 1975 through the merger of two French anise-based spirits companies: Pernod, which was founded in 1805, and Ricard, founded by Paul Ricard in 1932. The two companies , who were previously competitors joined forces with the aim of diversifying their range of products and especially to capture new, international markets.
